Saturday, March 2nd marked the beginning of our 11th maple season. The afternoon started with checking the lines and cleaning up the sugar house. Then Gordon put 40 taps in; 1/5 of the taps for the season. |

Gordon started tapping this week. So far he has tapped most of our property and one other property in Brentwood. The sap is flowing and we are looking forward to our first boil! We have scheduled 3 school groups so far for tours and are working on our plans for Maple Weekend. |

We have been tapping for the last 2 days. Last year we had about 120 taps out. So far we have 180 taps out this year. We've put out a few buckets and the rest is on tubing. We are tapping 2 other locations on our property this year and hoping to add a few trees from our neighbors. We collected 50 gallons of sap from the first 80 taps put in on Friday. Looks like it is going to be cold for the next few days. Hoping to finish tapping before the middle of the week. Looks like we might get a good run toward the end of the week. |
